Tree Trimming and Stump Removal Tender Award
1. RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended
1.1 That the low tender bid of $90.00/hour for Stump Removal and $98.00/hour (without chipper) or $104.00/hour (with chipper) for Tree Trimming, be accepted from Pineridge Tree Services Ltd. with payments based on tendered unit prices and actual hours worked.
2. PURPOSE / PROPOSAL
The purpose of this report is to obtain Council's approval for award of the tender for Tree Trimming and Stump Removal.
3. BACKGROUND
Invitations to tender for Tree Trimming and Stump Removal were sent out to qualified contractors for this contract specified for a two year duration (ending December 31, 2014). This tender was stated to be awarded in whole.
4. DISCUSSION / ANALYSIS
On November 13, 2012, the Public Works Department received and reviewed tenders for Tree Trimming and Stump Removal services. Invitations were sent out to five companies and four bids were received by closing. The following are the bids that were received:

5. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS
The low tender prices bid represent the same as the previous two years for trimming without a chipper, a decrease of $6.00/hour with a chipper, and an increase of $8.00/hour for stump removal. This expense is covered under the Roads Operating Budget.
6. COMMUNICATIONS
Once approved, all bidders will be notified of Council's decision.
7. CONCLUSION
Pineridge Tree Services has been serving the Town's needs for these services for many of the previous years and proven to provide quality service, reliability, and good value.
